You can include a gift to us in your will by adding a simple codicil (amendment) to your existing will or by writing a new will. It’s advisable to consult with a solicitor to ensure your wishes are accurately reflected. 

To ensure your legacy gift is received by the Museum, you must include our full name and address: The Black Watch Regimental Trust (Charity No: SC005848) , Balhousie Castle, Hay Street, Perth, PH1 5HR.

The wording below can be adapted by your solicitor when drawing up or amending your Will to include your gift to The Black Watch Regimental Trust:

For a Pecuniary Gift (a specific sum of money):

  • “I give the sum of £_____ to The Black Watch Regimental Trust Ltd (Registered Charity Number SC005848), Balhousie Castle, Hay Street, Perth, PH1 5HR, to be used for its general charitable purposes. I further direct that the receipt of the Treasurer or other duly authorised officer of the said charity shall be a full and sufficient discharge for the said gift.”

For a Residuary Gift (a percentage or all of your remaining estate):

  • “I give the whole (or _____% share) of my residuary estate to The Black Watch Regimental Trust Ltd (Registered Charity Number SC005848), Balhousie Castle, Hay Street, Perth, PH1 5HR, to be used for its general charitable purposes. I further direct that the receipt of the Treasurer or other duly authorised officer of the said charity shall be a full and sufficient discharge for the said gift.”

For a Specific Gift (an item or particular asset):

  • “I give [description of item] to The Black Watch Regimental Trust Ltd (Registered Charity Number SC005848), Balhousie Castle, Hay Street, Perth, PH1 5HR, to be used for its general charitable purposes. I further direct that the receipt of the Treasurer or other duly authorised officer of the said charity shall be a full and sufficient discharge for the said gift.”

For a Reversionary Gift (assets left to a loved one for their lifetime, then to the charity):

  • “Subject to the life interest of [name of person], I give [description of asset] to The Black Watch Regimental Trust Ltd (Registered Charity Number SC005848), Balhousie Castle, Hay Street, Perth, PH1 5HR, to be used for its general charitable purposes. I further direct that the receipt of the Treasurer or other duly authorised officer of the said charity shall be a full and sufficient discharge for the said gift.”
