Black Watch Corner

Black Watch Corner by Tam McClusky (paperback) explores a chronological account of events during a key chapter in the history of the 1st Battalion, The Black Watch in the early stages of the Great War.

Written by a former Black Watch W02, the book covers the period from August to late November 1914. It highlights the strength of the regimental system, where brothers and relatives often served together, and also reflects on the tragedy that affected many of those families.

The account also explores the resilience and flexibility shown by all ranks as they faced the German Army during the retreat from Mons through to First Ypres, the final major battle of 1914.
