Red Hackle Magazine 2025

The Red Hackle Magazine is the official Regimental Journal of The Black Watch, recording the life and spirit of the Regiment in peace and war and the principal character that animates the story is that of the soldier, the “Jock”.

Published annually each December, the magazine features a rich collection of contributions from Regulars, Reservists, Cadets, Association members and Affiliated Regiments from across the world. Each edition includes articles of historical interest, personal recollections, correspondence and obituaries of former Black Watch soldiers.

The 2025 edition continues this long-standing tradition, offering readers a meaningful insight into regimental life, remembrance, and connection — whether you have a personal link to The Black Watch or a wider interest in military history.

Copies of the magazine are also available as part of an annual subscription, ensuring you receive each new edition on publication.
