Saturday 23rd November

11am - 4pm

Adults Free | Children £5

As the nights draw in and get colder, thoughts here at the Castle turn to celebrating the changing of the seasons with our Winter Festival. We’re busy preparing some fantastic activities for all ages which are sure to get everyone into the Christmas spirit.

No Winter Festival would be complete without Father Christmas dropping in. He’ll be leading tours through the museum and, most importantly, checking everyone’s on their best behaviour! Tours will be leaving from the Castle Gift Shop at 12:00, 13:00, 14:00 and 15:00 and you can sign up now!

On arrival our young visitors will receive their Elf Training Card. Their mission will be to complete all the fun activities throughout the day, collecting stickers as they go. Successful elves will be presented with a certificate, showing them to be the best ever Christmas helpers!

There will be a whole host of creative crafts for our young elves and their families; you’ll be able to make your very own Christmas trees and sparkling snowflakes, or head into the gallery to design a personalised elf badge. There will also be a specially created tour of the museum, taking in some of the fascinating winter tales from The Black Watch’s incredible history.

To really get you into the season’s spirit, we’re delighted to say that the wonderful McAndrews Sisters will be joining us once again. They’ll be performing a selection of Festive inspired tunes and popular Christmas carols at 12:00 and 14:00.

To keep you refreshed the Castle Cafe will be open all day serving delicious food and drink with a Festive twist, plus there’s cookie decorating too. With trench tours, face painting and gallery trails there really is something for everyone. The festive finale takes place at 3.45pm, when Santa will pick, from a draw, the lucky elf who will assist him to switch on the Christmas tree lights which are sure to look spectacular. It’s definitely a day not to be missed!
