In this lecture, Major Carew Price will talk about his experiences during the battle of Mount Tumbledown.
Major Carew Price was commissioned into the Scots Guards in 1970. In 1982 he was recalled from his Company Commander’s Course at Warminster to command Right Flank (RF) company 2 SG during The Falkland War where the Battalion fought the Battle of Tumbledown just before the war ended. His company was then deployed to Ajax Bay Refrigeration Plant in San Carlos Water to guard 525 Special Category Argentinian POWs. An International Red Cross Inspection team found that the POWs were living under the same conditions as their RF guards.
He took part in the First Gulf War serving with 1SG before retiring from the Regular Army in 2006. He continued to serve as a retired Officer for another 14 years before finally leaving the service in 2021 having completed nearly 51 years in the Army.
