Bursary & Funding
We believe every pupil should have the chance to engage with Scotland’s history, regardless of financial circumstances. Thanks to the generous support of the Friends of The Black Watch Castle and Museum, we are pleased to offer a School Bursary Scheme to help remove barriers to visiting.
This support is open to all schools and is designed to help cover the essential costs involved in arranging a school visit to the museum.
What the Bursary Covers
The bursary can be used in the way that best supports your pupils. You can apply for help with:
- Admission fees (standard entry cost is £5 per pupil)
- Transport, such as coach or minibus hire
- Lunch or refreshments, particularly where a pupil would otherwise go without
- Additional accessibility needs or support costs where relevant
There is no set reason you need to choose. We encourage you to apply based on the specific needs of your class.
Who Can Apply
The bursary is available to any school that may be deterred from organising a visit due to cost. We ask that you complete a short application form outlining:
- Why your class would benefit from the bursary
- The number of pupils attending
- What you’d like the bursary to be used for
We welcome applications from primary and secondary schools across Perthshire, Fife, Dundee, Angus and beyond. If you’re unsure whether your school qualifies, please get in touch and we’ll be happy to talk it through.
How to Apply
To apply, simply download and complete our form below and then email the completed form to learning@theblackwatch.co.uk
