New Kids Trail – Fun for Young Explorers
A brand-new challenge awaits young explorers this summer. Our New Kids Trail takes children on a journey through the museum galleries, highlighting some of our tour guides’ favourite objects. Each carefully chosen item reveals fascinating insights into the history of The Black Watch Regiment.
Along the way, children will uncover interesting artefacts and stories that bring the past to life in a fun and interactive way. Keep an eye out for the hidden LEGO soldiers scattered throughout the galleries for an extra layer of discovery and fun.
The Kids Trail is included with museum entry. Simply ask for your trail sheet at the front desk and get exploring. Plus with our Pay for a Day, Visit for a Year ticket, they’re welcome to return and try it again.

Drop-Off Workshops
Wednesdays 16, 23 and 30 July
Time: 9.30am to 12.30pm
Price: £17.50 per child (includes drink and snack)
Looking for a fun way to keep the kids entertained this summer? Drop them off with our friendly team for a morning packed with hands-on crafts, museum exploration and time to play outdoors in the Castle grounds (weather permitting).
Each session is themed around a different part of Black Watch history, including Monty’s Moonlight, Pipes & Drums, and Signals & Codes. Spaces are limited, so book early to avoid disappointment.
Drop-In Crafts
Tuesdays 15, 23 and 29 July
Time: 10am to 12pm (last entry at 11:30am)
Price: £5 per child
Bring your young explorers along for a fun morning of summer crafts at the Castle. These relaxed sessions are perfect for children and their grown-ups to enjoy together.
Each week features a different hands-on activity inspired by Black Watch history, from building battlefield lanterns and musical instruments to cracking secret messages. No need to book in advance, just drop in between 10.00 and 11.30 and get creative in a welcoming, family-friendly space.
WW2 Victory Day
Saturday 9th August
Time: 11am to 3pm
Price: £10 per Adult, £5 per Child and £25 Family Ticket 9Includes 2 Adults and up to 4 children)
Celebrate celebrate the 80th Anniversary of VE Day and VJ Day with a family day full of music, history and hands-on fun. WW2 Victory Day is a great chance for all ages to discover more about the people, stories and experiences of wartime life.
Meet a reenactor, explore objects, take part in WW2-themed crafts and enjoy live music throughout the day. Entry includes full access to the museum galleries, so you can make a full day of your visit.
