Spring at Balhousie Castle

This Spring, bring your little adventurers to Balhousie Castle for a series of exciting and educational craft workshops inspired by the incredible history of The Black Watch Regiment. Each session combines hands-on creativity with fascinating insights into the regiment’s storied past, making it a perfect day out for families.

Tuesday 8th April: Trench Telephone – Step back in time to explore life in the trenches by learning about field telephones used during wartime. In this session children can create their own cup and string telephones and enjoy a game of “Gossip” around the Waterloo Room!

Thursday 10th April: Clay Creatures – Discover some of the incredible places The Black Watch have visited over the last 300 years. In this session, children will use air – drying clay to craft their own animal creations, inspired by the places and wildlife connected to the regiment’s storied history.

Tuesday 15th April: Clothespin Soldiers – The Black Watch have worn many uniforms and been to many places around the world. In this session we will use clothespins, wool, and fabric to create our own Black Watch soldiers as we learn more about the regiment’s history.

Thursday 17th April: Castle Garden Adventure – Explore the gardens at Balhousie Castle with a sensory tour. Learn about the fascinating history of Balhousie Castle and its grounds as you collect items from the gardens to bring indoors and craft your very own decorative tree.
