This book by Lieutenant General Sir Alistair Irwin KCB CBE shares the story of his great uncle, Lieutenant Lewis Robertson Cumming, who was killed in action with The Black Watch at the Battle of the Aisne on 14th September 1914, aged 21. It explores the all too brief life of one of the many young officers who bravely marched to the sound of the guns in August 1914, so many of whom never returned home.
A limited number of copies have been donated to The Black Watch Castle and Museum. Proceeds from the sale will be used to support our charitable aims.
