The Scots have long soldiered for money, adventure, a just cause, or national emergency. Out of that has come a rich heritage of music and song by, about, or for soldiers.  Many of the songs have a fascinating history to them.  Through narration, music and song, PlaidSong will tell of the story behind a selection of songs from across the ages.

Dr Nicola Small is a professional historian and the Local History Officer for Perth and Kinross Council.  She has sung and performed in many shows and concerts over the years.  Syd House is a retired professional forester based in Perthshire.  He has sung and played guitar in a number of folk groups over the years.  Syd & Nicola have performed together over a number of years, forming PlaidSong to showcase their shared love of history and music.’
