Experience the magic of the holidays at our Winter Festival. This festive family day is packed with activities for all ages. Our festival sessions run on the hour, featuring a Santa Tour, Christmas with a WW1 Soldier, and Elf Training Workshops. In addition to the main sessions, children can enjoy cookie decorating , Christmas trail through the museum and hands-on crafts.
Adults can get creative with a tartan Christmas tree craft, explore our festive object handling table, and enjoy a live cooking demonstration in the Bistro with our Head Chef, who’ll be making Christmas biscotti.
Winter Festival Sessions:
- Morning Sessions:
- 10am registration – 1015 Santa tour, 1100 Christmas with a WW1 Soldier, 1130 Elf Workshop
- 11am registration – 1115 Santa tour, 1200 Christmas with a WW1 Soldier, 1230 Elf Workshop
- Afternoon Sessions:
- 12pm registration – 1215 Santa tour, 1300 Christmas with a WW1 Soldier, 1330 Elf Workshop
- 1pm registration – 1315 Santa tour, 1400 Christmas with a WW1 Soldier, 1430 Elf Workshop
- 2pm registration – 1415 Santa tour, 1500 Christmas with a WW1 Soldier, 1530 Elf Workshop
What’s On For Children:
• Meet Santa on a magical tour through the museum.
• Take part in our Elf Training Workshop and earn your elf certificate.
• Step back in time with Private McNiven and discover what Christmas was like in the trenches during WW1.
• Explore the museum galleries on a festive trail.
• Get creative with cookie decorating and festive crafts, including paper plate baubles and reindeer headbands.
What’s On For Adults:
• Try your hand at Christmas object handling, exploring historical festive artefacts.
• Join our craft session to make a tartan Christmas tree decoration to take home.
• Watch live cooking demonstrations in the Bistro with our Head Chef, who will be making Christmas biscotti.
