Opening 5 September 2026, this new temporary exhibition explores the short life and remarkable work of Alexander James “Hamish” Mann, a talented poet, playwright, performer and Black Watch soldier. Drawing on the museum’s extensive archive, the exhibition brings together his poetry, writing and personal papers alongside the stories of other Black Watch soldiers whose experiences of the First World War found expression through words and art.
