Lt Col Leslie Boswell has always had a keen interest in the war in the Far East being the grandson of a prisoner of the Japanese. He also spent some of his childhood in Singapore where his father was serving in the British Army. Leslie’s lecture will cover the fall of Singapore and the aftermath as seen through the experiences of 2nd Battalion The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders who fought so bravely against the advancing Japanese army.
Lt Col Boswell was commissioned into the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders in 1976. He served for 36 years carrying out the normal tours of the time in Northern Ireland and the British Army of the Rhine. He also soldiered in Cyprus, Oman, Hong Kong, Canada, Sierra Leone, Afghanistan and Nigeria.
