On 3 May 2014, a statue commemorating the sacrifice of those who served in the Regiment during the Great War, was dedicated at Black Watch Corner, near Ypres in Belgium.
Over 50,000 men served in The Black Watch from 1914 - 1918; of that number over 20,000 men were wounded and 8,960 lost their lives.
Two soldiers of The Black Watch, 3rd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland read the names of The Black Watch officers and soldiers whose names are recorded on the Menin Gate and who have no known grave.
