Volunteer Role Description
Role Title:
Collections - Accessioning

Purpose of the role:
To oversee the formal entry process of accepting items into the Museum’s collections.
|
Main Duties and Activities:
· Liaise with Collections staff regarding progress
· Liaise with Collections – Entry/Exit/Loans volunteer regarding items newly entered into the Collection and approved for Accessioning
· Input object data into database
· Mark or label item
· Store item
· Liaise with Collections staff regarding security copies of Accession Register

Hours or Day(s) Required:
Approximately one half day per week.

Skills & Personal Qualities:
· Basic computer competence
· An eye for detail
· Organisational skills

Training of the Volunteer:
· On Collections Procedures relating to Accessioning
· On Adlib database and data entry
· On marking/labelling
· On storing items
|
Resources required:
· Staff time (for training and initial supervision)
· Desk space
· Collections laptop
