The Black Watch Museum Object of the Month

In its new role as the 3rd Battalion of The Royal Regiment of Scotland, The Black Watch is facing new demands and commitments and along with Black Watch Territorial soldiers and Cadets forms part of a vibrant and thriving community.

Territorial Army

The tradition of the Black Watch volunteer soldier lives on and A Company, 51st Highland, 7th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland has its headquarters in Dundee but soldiers from Angus, Dundee, Fife and Perthshire serve in the Company.

The Black Watch Territorials have a long and distinguished record. Formed in 1908, the 4th (Dundee), 5th (Angus), 6th (Perthshire) and 7th (Fife) Battalions forged their reputations in France and Flanders during the First World War (1914 – 1918) and again in France, North Africa, Italy and North West Europe from 1939 - 1945. The fighting spirit of their forefathers lives on as the current Territorials have served in Iraq and Afghanistan.
