Lecture | From Weapons to Rehabilitation: Basketry in the First World War
Fri, Nov. 10, 2017 1:00pm — 2:00pm
Anthropologist Dr Stephanie Bunn and basket maker Tim Palmer will provide a fascinating insight into the role of basketry during the First World War. Not only did baskets have a wide variety of practical uses, from shell cases and hospital cots to aircraft seats, but the very art of basket-making was used in occupational therapy for soldiers recovering from physical and mental trauma.
